~/about

If I can read about it,
I can build it.

I'm Duncan — based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. By day I'm a Personal Banker, helping clients with financial planning and lending. It's good work, and it pays for the hardware.

By night I'm a tinkerer: building and maintaining a hypervisor-based homelab, containerizing self-hosted services, experimenting with local AI models, and writing software. Diving headfirst into mistakes is the single best way to learn — and I've learned a lot.

Outside of tech

Away from the keyboard and the server rack, I'm usually on PC or Xbox, out taking photos, or keeping an unreasonable number of houseplants alive through the Winnipeg winter.
